Hello and welcome to my website. My name is Ian Lyle. I am based in Stevenage and operate my driving school in this area of Hertfordshire, amongst others. For a full list of the areas that I cover please see the Contact page.

I cater for newcomers of all ages and abilities, whether they’re school-leavers or mature adults, absolute beginners, those who’ve already had some tuition or others who are returning to the roads after a lengthy interval and feel in need of a refresher course.

Registered with the Driving Standards Agency, I am therefore subject to the very strict and exacting criteria laid down by that organisation. The DSA demands that all its registered instructors adhere to the very highest professional standards of competence and teaching skills; and just to be sure they continue to do so, all are re-assessed at 4-yearly intervals where they are monitored, tested and evaluated in terms of their overall ability.

Much of my own informal experience, however, was devoted to teaching my own sons to drive. It was the inner discovery of my own potential as a patient, experienced and knowledgeable driver/teacher that ultimately led to my decision to turn professional and start a driving school in Stevenage.

With the emphasis directed towards the safety aspects of driving, followed by good road sense and consideration for other motorists, I have formed a structured curriculum of training that encompasses all the essential elements of good tuition, practical and theory both.

I can show you how to anticipate and deal with the potential hazards associated with driving in conditions of poor visibility or adverse weather, adopting good urban driving techniques in built-up areas and how to join, use and leave the motorway network safely.
